Main Beach
From the heart of Surfers Paradise you can walk the track or ride your bike to this popular beach. Surrounded by alfresco cafés and snack bars, there’s even a great kid’s play area here. The ideal spot for the whole family.
Surfers Paradise
Arguably the Gold Coast’s most famous beach, this is where all the action happens. From the Australian Beach Volleyball Championships to the world-famous surfing lessons, it’s all here.
Broadbeach
Less popular with surfers and more so with families, this is a great spot to take the kids. When they finally tire of swimming and playing in the sand, you can set up a picnic in the adjacent park, complete with children’s playground.
Mermaid Beach
A little further south from Broadbeach, this is another great family-friendly spot with small swell, sheltered picnic areas, bike tracks and children’s playground. There is also a variety of cafés and restaurants within easy walking distance.
Miami & Nobby Beach
This quiet and relaxed beach has some great BBQ and picnic areas, as well as a beautiful cliff top offering a spectacular view of the coastline. If you can manage to get yourself out of bed early enough, this is a magical place to watch the sunrise.
Currumbin Beach / Bilinga Beach / Tugun Beach
Currumbin, Bilinga and Tugun beaches are situated on the southern end of the Gold Coast and make for a great change of pace from the busier northern beaches. Currumbin beach also has a fantastic rock pool that kids of all ages are bound to enjoy.
Kirra Beach
This world-famous beach offers some serious waves for keen surfers as well as some smaller waves that break closer to shore for the less experienced board riders. During cyclone season, some of the best surfing in Australia can be had here.
Coolangatta & Greenmount Beach
These are the Gold Coast’s only north facing beaches, providing sheltered conditions for swimming. Just around the point at Snapper Rocks, you may even be able to spot the majestic humpback whales making their annual migration during the cooler months.
